More about
Deerfield Academy
Deerfield is an exciting possibility. Each of our 638 students has the opportunity to contribute to our community in meaningful ways. Approximately 25% of our student body identifies as U.S. students of color, 18% identifies as foreign nationals or US citizens living abroad and another 12% are day students from the Pioneer Valley.
The academic year is divided into three terms: fall, winter, and spring. Classes are held Monday through Friday; there are no Saturday classes. Students typically carry five graded courses each term with the option of taking a sixth course upon faculty approval. We believe that this schedule best suits students’ sound educational development.
All students are required to participate in a co-curricular activity each term. Students may choose from interscholastic or recreational athletic teams, performing arts, or community service activities. Co-curriculars meet six afternoons per week, with athletic games, rehearsals, or extended activities scheduled for Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Deerfield students represent 34 states and 35 countries.
